Integrating Copernicus earth observation data, weather forecasts, forest structure, socio-economic data and a fire database in an Integrated Fire Danger System (IFDS) to provide high-resolution fire danger forecasts in mountain regions.


CONFIRM is a joint project of the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), the University of Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU), the Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik (ZAMG), the Österreichischer Bundesfeuerwehrverband, the Fire Departments of Graz and Innsbruck, the State Forest Directorates of Styria and Tyrol, as well as the German Weather Service (DWD) and the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB Infra). CONFIRM is funded by the Austrian Space Applications Program (ASAP) of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).

Project duration: 30 months (December 2019 to May 2022)
